As part of our Career Guidance, Mentorship and Skills Development component, Bukho Bami exposed youngsters to different job opportunities, helped them decide on future prospects and gave them a chance to dream of a better tomorrow. Excursions such as the one to Kusile Power Station in Mpumalanga gave the teenagers practical on the job experience. Our pupils learnt about exciting career choices in the engineering field during that trip which took place on the 12th of April at the invitation of the Department of Public Enterprises. Seeing how the infrastructure is developed and interacting with the Kusile staff and management broadened the teenagers worldview. The trip was incredibly beneficial!
Our Recreation Department had its hands full proving that Bukho Bami has talent! Our Choir was invited to sing at several events, most notably the 2017 National Teaching Awards on March 25th 2017. During the televised show, our youngsters performed for President Jacob Zuma, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, teachers and education officials, alongside the legendary Mahotela Queens, Joe Nina and Niama Kay!
The 17th of July 2017 marks the first day of Bukho Camp. We took a shot left to Thaba Morula in Brits, Northwest. On this particular camp, HyundaiSA partnered with us and just over 120 youngsters went on the all-expenses paid camp. After two hours of travelling everyone settled in and the program started off with a dance workshop hosted by Red Bull. Our first day at camp ended off with a night walk in the wild under the stars.
